Holiday Baking.. calling all bakers!

I can't believe in 1 week is Thanksgiving!!! I feel like it creeped up but then again, it didn't! Time's just flying!!

It's around this time that I start perusing my Holiday cookbooks, magazines etc.

yes, most of them are older but they still have great ideas!!

I've pretty much already made my cookie list and need to start  shopping for the ingredients I need before Thursday so that I can start my baking next weekend.

I'm baking several traditional cookies again:
glazed butter cookies (this page gets visited the most...weird!)

Vanilla Kipferl aka vanilla crescents..although I may make these chocolate this year...

Zimtsterne aka cinnamon stars
kokos macronen.. coconut macaroons
I never got the recipes up for the last two but I will make sure to do so this year!!!

I'm also trying two new German recipes this year, one cookie and one cake.. I'm going to hold off on announcing the cake since I want it to be a surprise for Nikolaus.

so, the new cookie.. some of you may have seen these in stores, they tend to be in the gourmet shops since one bag is like $4..

they are a type of gingerbread, mine will be sans the jam in the middle..

I'm also adding two American style cookies: Oreo truffles and peanut butter truffles..so divine. I can't wait and I'm sure neither can my waistline!

This time of year is the only time I really actually buy magazines and two that I am adding to my holiday collection will be...

  1. The King arthur flour cookie book is the book on all kinds of cookies but it's huge. Matt loves spritz cookies which I've only ever made for him, my childhood friends always made chocolate crinkles which are very pretty and tasty and we always made peanut butter dipped in dark chocolate and rolled in chopped nuts. None are diet friendly!

Hey Du! I'm having a holiday cookie baking extravaganza with my mom & sisters this weekend. Maybe if you're lucky, I'll share some of our Spritz cookies with you, so that you'll be inspired to put your cookie press to good use.

Wann sehen wir uns wieder? Hmmm???

Your mom & I are due for another lunch date soon. You should join us. I need to get with her about a good day.

So nice of her to loan out her kitchen for you. Knowing how much she likes to cook (!!!), I'd say she's probably going to ask for some of your cookies as payment for use of the kitchen.
